Board Highlights

May 8, 2012

Regular Business meeting:

· Accepted the resignations Jody Weeks and Elaine Martel from the food service program

· Hired Hayley Hocking as the Assistant VB Coach

· Approved the second and final reading Policy #3224 Student Dress Code and changes in the 7-12 student handbook regarding dress code for the 2012-13 school year.

· Hired tenured and non-tenured teachers and classified staff for 2012-13.

· Adopted the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts

· Approved Megan Oberweiser to be a substitute teacher and Hayley Hocking do her student teaching in Art at DHS in the fall.

· Joined MHSA for 2012-13

· Reached agreement with Tim Anderson for an early retirement incentive.

· Received an Academic Achievement Award for making AYP.

· Approved a $500 stipend per employee from the above Award and end of year cash.

· Reviewed deferred maintenance projects for the summer. Items approved were a new heater in the lunchroom, roof repair at the ES and some asphalt work.

· Increased the family activity pass to $125 and the student participation fee to $20.

· Hired fall coaches and athletic director.

· The clerk gave the board a report on the district’s health insurance program

A special school board meeting will be Monday, May 21 @ 6 PM.
